BelAir50cBelAir50c: Economical and Easy to Install Wireless Mesh Cluster Node

The BelAir50c is a single-radio, wireless mesh cluster node that can be quickly and economically deployed to provide Wi-Fi coverage over very large areas. It can be used in standalone wireless mesh clusters or to extend Wi-Fi coverage at the edge of a larger wide-area wireless broadband network.

The BelAir50c shares the same environmentally hardened design, Access Radio Module (ARM), management framework and many other components of the award-winning BelAir100.  The BelAir50c uses a single radio in the 2.4 GHz band with two Omni-directional antennas to provide Wi-Fi access and to form a multipoint-to-multipoint wireless mesh with other BelAir nodes for sending traffic through the network.  Typically, the BelAir50c is deployed in a cluster of up to eight nodes.

The BelAir50c can operate as part of BelAir’s complete metro scale network that integrates wireless access with wireless backhaul in an innovative, scaleable mesh backbone. It extends the industry-leading family of broadband wireless infrastructure products, enabling a full spectrum of wireless coverage options, from ‘thin’ data-only networks covering large open areas, through to high capacity wireless broadband networks in dense urban centers providing video, voice and data services.  This gives cities, service providers, and enterprise customers unprecedented flexibility in the design and growth of their wide-area wireless broadband networks.  They can choose the most appropriate combination of wireless delivery and access approaches for the applications that drive their deployment today. And they can ensure future network growth – to address more users or applications – is completely seamless and protects their network investment.

Public and Private Network Applications

The BelAir50c allows network operators to quickly and easily build broadband wireless networks for public and private applications, wherever they are required. Most importantly, while the BelAir50c is used for lower-capacity applications, it is part of the only scalable mesh architecture robust enough to handle high bandwidth applications such as video and voice for:

Compact, Rugged, Mesh Cluster Node

The BelAir50c features a rugged outdoor enclosure, a 100-Mbps Ethernet port, two 8-dBi Omni directional antennas and a high-powered Access Radio Module that are optimized to provide coverage over large areas. Battery back-up power supply, brackets for pole or wall mounting, and a high-performance network processing core are standard on all BelAir50c nodes.  The software provides operator-class, network level operation, administration and maintenance (OAM) capabilities and a wealth of security, mobility, and management services.

Each BelAir50c provides Wi-Fi access to standard 802.11b- or 802.11g-equipped client devices and connects with other BelAir infrastructure nodes by forming a wireless multipoint-to-multipoint mesh.

The BelAir50c can be used in mesh clusters of up to 8 nodes to provide Wi-Fi coverage throughout a large area at the lowest possible cost.  To create larger networks, the mesh cluster can be attached to a wired network or connected wirelessly to a larger BelAir network.
